Organizational context
The Private Sector Partnerships Service (PSP) sits within UNHCR’s Division of External Relations (DER) and is responsible for mobilizing resources and other forms of support from the private sector. In 2019, UNHCR China Office set up a new Private Sector Partnerships team to mobilize resources from the Chinese private sector to support our work globally. One of the key aspects in PSP’s work is to expand UNHCR’s engagement with the general public including UNHCR’s existing and potential supporters.
The position
The intern will work under the guidance and supervision of the Senior PSP Associate (digital) and will be based in the UNHCR office in Beijing.
Recruitment as an intern is subject to proof of vaccination against Covid-19.
Duties and responsibilities
Research and content support: Translate UNHCR media materials (press releases, statements, briefing notes, pamphlets and brochures), policy documents and reports from English to Chinese, and vice versa;
Social media creative content support: support on planning, copywriting and content production of Wechat/Weibo posts;
Campaigns support: provide timely and qualified assistance to resource mobilization campaigns online and offline;
Partnership support: support the development and maintenance of the partnership database, including prospects/donor information, update of engagement, meeting minutes and other related records;
Draft summary report: support on the monthly data summary and work report under supervisor’s guidance;
Admin-related supporting work, such as memo writing background search, coordinating for memo approvals and signatures within different units;
Undertaking other duties as required by the Supervisor.
Minimum qualifications required
In order to be considered for an internship, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:
Be either a recent graduate (having completed their studies within two years of applying) or a current student in a graduate/undergraduate school programme from a university or higher education facility accredited by IAU/UNESCO; and
Completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in English language and literature, Translation Studies, Communication Studies, Business and Marketing, etc.;
Desirable qualifications and skills
Fluent in English, proficiency in other languages i.e. French or Arabic is a plus;
Firm commitment to a full-time internship of six months.
Conditions
It is a full/part-time role with working hours starting from 9.00am to 6:00pm Monday to Friday (40 hours per week). The successful candidate will be assigned to support the team in Beijing office.
Allowance: Interns who do not receive financial support from an outside party will receive an allowance to partially help to cover the cost of food, local transportation and living expenses.
